      <image:caption>Andrea was born and raised in Greenwich, CT.  She is a college graduate with ten years professional experience in Marketing, Sales and Human Resources. She first started taking Barre classes in 2000 and immediately became addicted. As an avid student, she was in class as often as possible.  When Andrea’s family re-located to Illinois, she became a student at a local Barre studio and was soon approached by the owner to train as a teacher. After a full year and the completion of intense training, Andrea became an instructor.   A move back to CT prompted an immediate search for a dedicated barre studio. "The Pilates Barre is like no other studio I have ever attended and I am thrilled to be part of such a great team of professionals!"       <image:caption>A hospice and palliative care Nurse Practitioner and case manager for our local RVNA hospice team, Lauren’s days are spent focusing on health and wellness. Teaching Barre and Pilates complements her love of helping people feel stronger and more positive. Her classes are meant to be a fun outlet for day to day stressors!  Lauren was certified in Barre through “BarreSculpt” in March of 2020 and in Bodhi (TRX) by Sharon McSpedon at The Pilates Barre in 2021. In 2022, she was certified in Pilates Mat 1, 2 and 3 by Balanced Body.       <image:caption>Allison Adrian has been active all her life, trying many forms of exercise and activities (swimming, Barre, spin, running, cross-fit). But it was Pilates that really got her attention! She took her first Pilates mat class during Covid to vary her workout routine when gyms were closed. Then, when a shoulder injury prevented her from continuing traditional strength training, she began Reformer work, instantly falling in love with the precision, flexibility, core focus and mind-body connection. Allison trained, studied, and apprenticed under Sharon McSpedon at The Pilates Barre. After logging in over 600 hours of coursework, workshops, observations, and hands-on teaching, Allison was certified by Sharon in Beginner, Intermediate and Advanced Mat and Reformer work as an Evolve Your Teaching Pilates Instructor in April of 2023. With advanced certifications in Pregnancy and Postpartum Corrective Exercise (PCES), Nicole also specializes in pre/postnatal care and pelvic floor health. After overcoming chronic pain through Pilates, she became passionate about educating both women and men on the vital connection between functional movement and pelvic floor strength. Her approach blends rehabilitative support with everyday functional fitness and athletic performance. Nicole also holds a Master’s in Social Work and brings a trauma-informed lens to her teaching, having supported geriatric clients and caregivers through life transitions.       <image:caption>After moving to Chappaqua, New York, with her husband and family from Mexico City in 2003, Patricia Elizondo worked in several museums as an art curator. She spent many years actively involved in raising her three children, who are now 27, 24 and 18. She has always had a passion for fitness; running, biking, swimming, CrossFit, and of course Pilates. Patricia started her Pilates journey 11 years ago with Sharon at The Pilates Barre, traveling from Chappaqua every week for her favorite workout. When the opportunity arose to become a Pilates instructor under her ‘teacher and mentor’, she signed up! After years of dance training and performing, she became certified in group exercise, personal training and kinesiology in NYC. She then worked for the NY Health and Racquet Club and as the manager and teacher trainer of an elite exercise studio on Park Avenue. Shortly there after she became an avid student of the Lotte Berk Method and barre exercise as a method of conditioning. In 1987, Sharon was introduced to Pilates and received her first Pilates Mat and Reformer Certification with Quentin Josephy and Marie Jose Blom, of Balanced Body and Smart Spine fame.</image:caption>

We focus on alignment and quality of movement.  Pilates is something almost anyone can do and at our studio, apparatus work can be done alone or with up to 13 other people. We offer Classical and Contemporary training at beginner, intermediate and advanced levels as well as rehabilitative sessions for those recovering from injury or dealing with pain.  Our clients have the opportunity to learn Reformer, Chair, Tower and Barrel work in a private, semi-private or group setting with Pilates instructors who are comprehensively trained on all the apparatus.   This is our signature Pilates Class.  The work is performed using a combination of springs and bars to create additional resistance and/or assistance while executing classical exercises from the Pilates Cadillac repertoire.  This class starts with a  standing warm up, set to music, followed by the use of free weights and/or arm springs to strengthen the arms, chest, back and abdominals.  Standing thigh work borrowed from the Barre protocol, follows before moving on to the push-through or roll-down bar for deep core strengthening and stretching.  Leg springs complete the class by challenging the hamstrings and gluts to work hard while stabilizing the pelvis.  Students are taught to move the arms and legs from the core, align the spine, balance muscle strength, and gain  flexibility in this wonderfully challenging and invigorating workout.       <image:caption>Bodhi is a simple and elegant suspension system, similar to TRX. This class is unique to The Pilates Barre as it includes the spring work from the Pilates protocol while the Tower also serves as an anchor for the ropes, handles and foot loops of the Bodhi system.  This class starts with a music driven cardio warm-up and moves into chest, shoulder, back, bicep and tricep work.  Standing leg work is done while holding onto the Bodhi handles, while planks, push-ups and side planks are performed while feet are suspended in Bodhi loops, both providing an added element of balance and challenge. Movement sequences include reaching limbs to the front, back or side of the body, moving the center of the body into an unstable lean, and pulling the weight of the body against the force of the ropes. By taking your body out of alignment with gravity, you are able to use your own body weight as a tool for resistance against the ropes. Movement sequences include reaching limbs to the front, back or side of the body, moving the center of the body into an unstable lean, and pulling the weight of the body against the force of the ropes. Arguably our most challenging class, this is also potentially the most empowering.</image:caption>

      <image:caption>to The Pilates Barre; we include the spring work from the Pilates Tower which serves as an anchor for the ropes, handles and foot loops of the Bodhi system.  Students get the benefit of TRX and Pilates in the same class which starts with a cardio warm-up and moves into chest, shoulder, back, bicep and triceps. Standing leg work is done while holding onto the Bodhi handles. Planks, push-ups and side planks are performed with feet suspended in the Bodhi loops, providing an added element of challenge.</image:caption>
