Invigorating

Bodhi is our version of TRX and we combine it with Pilates spring work which makes it exclusive to The Pilates Barre.  It is arguably the most difficult class at our studio but potentially the most empowering. Suspension work has the ability to take students to new levels of strength and body awareness because you use your own body weight as resistance against the ropes. We are always coming up with new variations on this self created class to keep students on their toes (literally) and we have been amazed at the increase in strength clients have achieved by comitting to this class while learning Pilates and Barre at the same time.

Cross Training

Bodhi is a simple and elegant suspension system, similar to TRX. This class is unique to The Pilates Barre as it includes the spring work from the Pilates protocol while the Tower also serves as an anchor for the ropes, handles and foot loops of the Bodhi system.  This class starts with a music driven cardio warm-up and moves into chest, shoulder, back, bicep and tricep work.  Standing leg work is done while holding onto the Bodhi handles, while planks, push-ups and side planks are performed while feet are suspended in Bodhi loops, both providing an added element of balance and challenge. Movement sequences include reaching limbs to the front, back or side of the body, moving the center of the body into an unstable lean, and pulling the weight of the body against the force of the ropes. The deep core is engaged throughout the class to stabilize the spine while challenging  the center of gravity for an amazing full body workout that creates amazing new levels of strength and flexibility!
